Summer Mini sessions are this weekend so I thought i'd look back on a mini that turned out super cute. So my new thing to is going to be jumping on the Throwback Thursday train. If you don't know what that is, it's posting photos from the past i.e. posting to photos I have yet to blog *wink. My first Throwback is of the McCollam family. The McCollams left Wisconsin for the Big Apple at the end of last year. They are now expecting girl number two and I'm so happy for them. I wish I could be there to take photos of their beautiful family every year! One of the things I love the most, besides the adorable baby, is the last photo. Chantelle lost her mom right before having Sloan and the family moved to Wisconsin just after Sloan was born. In the move Chantelle was able to bring her mom's favorite chair, one where they took a very special mother and daughter photo. Chantelle asked me to recreate the photo for her and Sloan and I was glad to do it. I hope that Sloan will cherish it as much as you cherish your photo with your mom. I miss you guys and I hope to see you soon! Can't wait to see pictures of the Little Lady when she arrives!

Easter at Grandma's

So for a while now I've gifted my mom and step-dad photos with their grandkids in frames (without the photos) and I've FINALLY gotten around to taking some of the pictures. So even though the beast, Lyle, is missing from the photos (because waking him from his slumber would NOT benefit anyone) we had a fun mini session with Grandma, Papa, Isaac and my niece Gabby on Easter. Now I just have to print them, put them in the frames and hang them to make good on my gifts.... :-)

So...I'm just going to come out and say it...my niece is the cutest little girl I've ever seen. It's just fact. I'm so lucky I get to capture her milestones in photos. So far she is a perfect little model for auntie and I'm going to take advantage of it as long as it will last. Here are some photos of her over the last 6 months. My family's newest member, Lyle James, made his debut 5 weeks early. Already copying his brother, he spent a week in the NICU. Like any stay in the hospital, it was hard. However, there were so many more babies that were far worse off than our little guy and we were grateful for the health blessings that we did have. We are all home and doing well (if you don't count sleep deprivation) and I figured now that it's going on three months, I should introduce him...you know before his one year portraits come around! Needless to say our lives are busy, but a newborn doesn't just mean less sleep it also means more love to go around, especially from his big brother Isaac! Below you'll find some photos from his birth, one month portraits and two month portraits. Enjoy!

Melissa and Jacob got married on a lovely day over the July 4th weekend. It was a pleasure spending the holiday with them. I wasn't able to meet Jacob before the wedding because he was serving in South Carolina. He and Melissa showed a lot of strength during their long time apart, Melissa was here in Wisconsin. Phone dates and a cute game of note passing through Pez Dispensers kept them connected. The reception did not lack entertainment. The Bride's mother had professional dancers come and put on a show, Jacob sang a song during the speeches to Melissa and the DJ had them play an adorable game. Overall the day was perfect and definitely a day they will remember forever!

I Love my family! Meet my Uncle Greg and his family, newest member being Josh, who just proposed to my cousin Abby....in Paris...yup you heard me right. Rain might have changed Alyssa & Jordan's plans just a little bit, but it didn't seem to dampen the day at all! What a great day at the Oconomowoc Lake Club celebrating their love with family members and friends. Of course, a day is always made extra special when your beautiful baby girl can be apart of it. Grace was by far my favorite part of the wedding. The dinner was fabulous and let me tell you the service by the club was the best I've ever seen from a caterer. Well, it's about time I make a personal post don't you think? I know you all have been dying to find out what I've been up to. I guess it's actually a mixture of both personal and professional. See, at the end of June one of my very best friends got married in Florida! She asked me to be in the wedding and of course the family and I planned a trip around the special occasion. Not only was I in the wedding, I was blessed to be able to capture the first look and reception. Here are pictures from the family trip from start to finish (including cell phone pics) and my dear friends wedding! Enjoy!

Anna and Tim's outdoor ceremony and reception were held at Anna's parent's backyard at their beautiful home in Mequon, WI. Side note, her mother's garden was beautiful I was VERY impressed she cared for it on her own. Because the wedding was taking place outdoors Anna and Tim put the details of the day in the very capable hands of wedding planners from Timeless Events, LLC. who did an amazing job! Anna, Tim and their crew probably have had the most personality out of all my couples this year. They gave me so much to work with I ended up leaving their wedding with no room on my cards and many, many photos to go through. With so many awesome details and such variety with their personalities it was really hard for me to narrow down my favorites, but here is an attempt. Enjoy!!

Kristy and Sam seriously belong to the most smiley group of friends and family I have ever seen! They are so much fun to be around and me and my second shooter and friend, Lindsay from CarrStudios, had the most fantastic time getting to know all of them a little better! Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse of Wisconsin is an organization that holds multiple events each year to raise support for the Medical College of Wisconsin's cancer research. The second annual Hope Springs Eternal 5K Run/Walk was just held last week and what a great turnout they had! vJoy had the pleasure of attending the event to capture the fun morning. What can I say about Grace! She may not show her smile right away, but when it comes out she doesn't hold back. She definitely had the blue steel look working for her and was probably the most well behaved one year old I have had yet. Being a mom of a preschooler you can sometimes feel a little like a hermit who has lost the ability to form a complete sentence and who looses all desire to...well do anything. Sometimes a mom just needs to talk to someone who can communicate back without whining. I know I was about to go crazy if I had to stay at home one more month alone with no adult interaction. Luckily, I got plugged in and had the pleasure of attending a local MOPs group (Mothers of Preschoolers check them out here) for the first time this year. I have met some awesome ladies and lots of new friends for my son. This week was our last meeting for the summer and I thought it may be fun to record all the crazy people I've hung out with for the past couple months! Enjoy!

So I usually don't write text to my blog post in the attempt to save myself from embarrassment, but for this shoot I just had to comment. This last week I had the pleasure of taking pictures of a soldier and his family before deployment. Jacob recently found out he would be leaving his wife Hannah and their two beautiful daughters just before Easter. When Hannah contacted me last week to see if I had time to take pictures of them before he left I had to make it happen. After we talked I kept thinking about being in her position, pregnant and with two girls under five, saying goodbye to the love her her life for a time of uncertainty. I give her and their family so much credit. Just the thought of having to say goodbye to (my) Jacob for months on end makes me start crying, let alone to find out just weeks before it has to happen. They don't complain. They have faith in God and they also know it is the way it works in war. Sometimes there is an immediate need for a soldier because positions become open, for many reasons. Jacob selflessly and bravely takes the call and protects us, most of who he never meets.
I just want to say thank you to him and to all of those serving in our military. This family has inspired me to do a free mini session for any family whose loved one is being deployed to protect our country in war. Please contact me for details.
